Summary:
Operate a paratransit van safely and efficiently to transport seniors and people with disabilities of all ages to senior center and adult day center programs, medical appointments, shopping, hot lunch programs, and additional destinations as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites:
1. Operate paratransit van in various traffic and environmental conditions, on schedule to various locations in a safe, timely manner. Observe all safety precautions; communicate with other drivers and the dispatch center using a two-way radio or cell phone
2. Perform pre and post-inspections on assigned vehicle; clean and refuel the vehicle; report any mechanical service needs.
3. Greet, assist and secure passengers; provide whatever assistance is needed, such as opening doors, operating wheelchair lift, escorting to buildings. Assure passenger safety and respond to passenger illness or other medical problems as needed.
4. Maintain a variety of records, reports and logs.
5. Maintain a satisfactory working relationship with fellow employees, senior center staff, nutrition site managers, and the general public.
6. Attend all training programs when scheduled.
7. Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
8. Maintain citation and (at fault) accident free driving record.
9. Demonstrate an eagerness to learn and enhance skills that promote equity and inclusion.
10. Participate in events related to understanding institutional racism and other forms of oppression.
11. Other duties as necessary and/or assigned.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required. Education & Experience:
1. High School or GED.
2. A minimum of one year professional driving experience preferred.
3. Experience working with frail and disabled people preferred.
4. Must successfully complete all training classes as required.

Skills & Abilities:
1. Must be at least 25 years of age, for insurance purposes.
2. Valid Washington State driver's license with no moving violations in the past three years required.
3. Ability to communicate clearly in English.
4. Must pass CDL Medical Determination for Fitness test, and a pre-employment drug screen.
5. Physical ability to perform job, including operating wheelchair lift.
6. Must maintain insurability through agency's carrier.
7. Must be able to maintain a regular work schedule.

Note: All employees are subject to periodic Washington State Patrol Criminal History Background Checks and must complete a Criminal History Self-Disclosure Form.
